Ernesto Olivas
Ernesto came from a family deeply rooted in business in Mexico, where multiple family-run ventures shaped his entrepreneurial mindset. At 27, he moved to the United States as a husband and father seeking a fresh start. While working to support his family he entered the countertop fabrication and installation industry, learned the trade inside and out, and developed a strong passion for it that drives the company to this day.
The Beginning
In 2005 Olivas Granite and Marble LLC was officially registered. Ernesto started with limited money and limited English-speaking skills, but he worked tirelessly to build the company from the ground up. The business began in a small shop near Franklin Park, Illinois, with nothing more than a pickup truck and determination. Growth came naturally from a strong work ethic, real skill, and a friendly personality that customers genuinely appreciated.
Growth & The Kids Join the Team
As the company expanded, the shop was moved closer to family in Romeoville, Illinois. The move also provided more warehouse space for new machinery—and made it much easier for the children to become involved in the business.
Meet The Team
Helen Aviles
Operations & Sales
Helen studied business administration in college and, soon after graduation, began working full-time to help run the company. She works directly with clients, helping with sales and daily business operations. She loves the design aspect of the work and creating beautiful layouts, even if it takes hours.
Fun Fact: She is a top-tier baker and knows how to make amazing cakes.
Carlos Olivas
Operations & Sales
Following in Helen's footsteps, Carlos also studied business administration in college and, soon after graduation, decided he wanted to work in the family business as well.
Fun Fact: He loves to cook and bake, from chicken and sundried tomato pasta to tiramisu.
Nestor Olivas
Technology and Operations Lead
Unlike Carlos and Helen, Nestor chose not to study business. He studied applied science in college with a focus on computer technology, then joined the team to lead the company’s technology and operations. He stays current on the best software and hardware available so the company can provide top-level service and quality.
Fun Fact: He loves to scuba dive and swim, and once completed a 2.5K open-water race with a fractured foot.
Geovany Aviles
Installation Manager
Geovany joined the team after falling in love with Helen and being introduced to the countertop fabrication and installation industry. He has become a key part of the business and now leads installations while also handling measuring and templating.
Fun Fact: His favorite animal is the manta ray, and he loved diving off the coast of Kauai to see giant manta rays.
Aime Hernandez
Lead Sales Associate
Aime joined the team in 2021 and has been a great addition ever since. She is a friendly, knowledgeable sales lead who helps customers choose the perfect material for their project.
Fun Fact: She knows how to sing opera.
